Mark Painter grew up in the village of Nether Stowey, and always harboured a wish to become a Radio DJ.

Educated at Nether Stowey Primary School, and then at Dr Morgans in Bridgwater, Mark started his career being trained as an electronic engineer for a local music shop.

At the age of 21 he decided to make a career out of DJ’ing, and spent the next few years doing the rounds of pubs, clubs and private parties as a jobbing mobile DJ.

In the 70s and 80s there can be few places that he didn’t play at with ‘The Splodge Roadshow’ being one of the top local mobile discos.

After taking time out to raise a family, Mark lead the team that won Bridgwater and Sedgemoor its own radio station, and BCRfm was born. Sadly the original team went their separate ways when the station was sold.

After the original BCRfm closed, Mark worked on several local stations, including Quaywest, Total Star Somerset, and more recently Mark presented the Breakfast show on the county wide station Pulse.

Mark can now be heard every afternoon broadcasting on Sedgemoor FM.
